Dear Parents,
As we continue this year, you will probably hear all of the worn out "horror stories" about all the "homework" I give and how I run a tight ship. Let me ease and clear your mind with the truth. I will never give a student something he/she cannot do. I will ALWAYS give a student the benefit of the doubt until the excuses become habitual. I have the highest expectations of my students, and with their due diligence, they will leave WHMS fully ready for high school courses. I will help ANY student who is willing to help him/herself; I will meet them more than half-way. If there is ever a question you have, please contact ME via email FIRST, so I can help clarify any myths you might hear...yes, all kids tell untruths -- mine included. Anything worth doing and learning is not easy, nor should it be. Your child will be pushed to do things academically that he/she never thought was possible, and they will be so much better because of it. Thank you for helping your child and my student.
Sincerely,
Coach Lowe
A few words about "homework"...
I almost always give the students plenty of time to get started and sometimes even finish the daily assignment in class. It only becomes "homework" when they do not finish the assignment during class time whether it be not focusing, not using time wisely, or just difficulty/time consuming tasks at hand. There will be times when this occurs, so please have a suitable place for your child to work at home that is quiet and well lit. Time management is the key to minimizing the amount of "homework".
